Project Goals :
Despite the very good geographical location and geopolitical structure in terms of alternative/renewable energy natural and technical potential in the world countries and especially in our country, fossil fuels(petroleum and its products) take the first place when looking at the energy types consumed in ship electrical systems throughout the world. Thus, the environmental damage of carbon dioxide(CO2), nitrogen oxide(NOx) and sulfur dioxide(SO2) emissions caused by fossil fuels used in the ship’s electrical system, fuel prices, and thus the current/to-be-existing global energy wars on the basis of countries will have a positive impact on states. Considering its negative economic effects, it is inevitable to use renewable energy sources. In the project designed to solve this problem, it is aimed to reduce the dependency of the ship’s electricity system on fossil fuels. Thus, wind turbines for wind assisted systems, solar panels for solar energy supported systems, and wave energy system for wave assisted systems, which are among alternative/renewable energy sources that will solve this problem, should be strategically placed on the ship and the energy produced from these sources should be stored in the batteries in the main power plant. The stored energy is adjusted to the desired voltage level with the help of transformer and changed according to the level of use in the ship with the help of alternating current(AC) and direct current(DC) converters, and at the same time, strategically placed circuit breakers and fuses in the electricity distribution system automatically detect a faulty circuit in the network. It is designed to cut.
Project Results :
In terms of the applicability of the project, it is important to analyze the strategic locations, working principles and at least optimal energy sustainability of each system model in the ship electrical system in terms of the continuity and applicability of the use of renewable resources. Thus, it reduces the dependency of the ship electrical system on fossil fuels. The importance of renewable energy sources is undeniable. In this study, which was prepared to draw attention once again to the harmlessness of green energy use to the environment and to its positive effects on efficiency and cost, it is aimed that systems using renewable energy sources do not cause extra emissions, aim to reduce the current emission level, and also to reduce the current emission level, which is considered to be infinite, such as solar and wind. It has been concluded that there is no negative effect on the environment due to reasons such as the use of resources. When considered in terms of efficiency, it is stated in the graphics in the relevant sections that almost all of the daily energy needs are met when solar panels and wind turbines are used together, and it is clearly seen that the energy need is met to a large extent when these systems are applied alone. Therefore, the end result of this project is the necessity of avoiding the environmental, climatic and economic damages of fossil fuels by making maximum use of renewable energy sources in the ship’s electricity system. Here, alternative energy types come into play. The most primary solution to the problem described in the project has been shown as alternative energy sources. Because the increase in maritime trade indirectly increases greenhouse gas emissions. The important point here is not to narrow the global trade volume in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and not to cause a crisis in the supply of renewable resource system and price policies. Therefore, industry stakeholders will need to take the initiative to achieve the optimum solution. Because, it is necessary to encourage the use of alternative energy sources and develop projects in order to prevent greenhouse gas emissions and indirectly global warming. Therefore, industry stakeholders should undertake smart, environmentally friendly and green-friendly innovations in the ship industry, at the operational and operational level, which are compatible with today’s technology. In addition, the cost of technical solutions, the industry’s support for technical solutions, and the significant concerns in the use of performance-based indicators to reduce carbon dioxide emissions should be addressed. Due to the obvious advantage and limitation of navigating with energy obtained from renewable sources, while giving up machine power, the need to accelerate the ships as a result of the improvement in market conditions and the possible increase in freight traffic, there is a necessity to take additional operational measures. Reinforcement of renewable energy types in maritime transport seems possible with hybrid systems in the future, especially for transoceanic and large-sized ships. After the completion of the economic life of the conventional ships that require relatively low power on the coast, the emission targets for 2050 should be achieved by using solar and wind energy as energy sources.
